Craig Letz

Principal Consultant and Co-Owner

With over 30 years of wildfire and emergency management services experience, Craig Letz has established himself as a subject matter expert in wildfire mitigation, management, and policy. Clients appreciate his easy-going personality, depth of knowledge, and willingness to find solutions that work for everyone.  

Before starting Tamarack Wildfire Consulting, Craig spent 25 years with the federal government, retiring as the Fire Staff Officer (aka Fire Chief) for the Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests and Prineville BLM in Oregon.  He served 15 of those years with the National Park Service, honing his skills using wildfire as a tool for ecological restoration in Grand Canyon and Crater Lake National Parks.

When Craig is not assisting clients he enjoys spending time with his family, exploring Central Oregon on his mountain bike or motorcycle, and woodworking.

Jennifer Letz

Co-Owner and Project Manager

Jennifer, who manages the firms’ day-to-day operations, is a former wildland firefighter, backcountry park ranger, and EMS provider. She is also an experienced sustainability professional who takes a whole systems approach to problem solving and project development. She takes pride in ensuring solutions are economically sound, environmentally friendly, and equitable.

In her free time she serves on a number of boards and enjoys biking, skiing, and traveling with her family.

Shaun Larson

Wildfire Consultant

Shaun is a retired wildland fire fuels expert with over 25 years of experience. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of fuels and fire behavior with clients. When he’s not biking or nordic skiing with his family, he continues to serve on an incident management team assisting with wildfires across the nation.
