With over 30 years of wildfire and emergency management services experience, Craig Letz has established himself as a subject matter expert in wildfire mitigation, management, and policy. Clients appreciate his easy-going personality, depth of knowledge, and willingness to find solutions that work for everyone.
Before starting Tamarack Wildfire Consulting, Craig spent 25 years with the federal government, retiring as the Fire Staff Officer (aka Fire Chief) for the Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests and Prineville BLM in Oregon. He served 15 of those years with the National Park Service, honing his skills using wildfire as a tool for ecological restoration in Grand Canyon and Crater Lake National Parks.
When Craig is not assisting clients he enjoys spending time with his family, exploring Central Oregon on his mountain bike or motorcycle, and woodworking.
Joe Cochran
Wildfire Consultant
Joe is a seasoned wildfire professional with almost two decades of firefighting experience. He achieved the rank of Assistant Fire Management Officer before leaving the US Forest Service, but still travels to wildfires across the country serving as an Air Attack Specialist. At Tamarack Wildfire Consulting, he enjoys sharing his knowledge of fire behavior with clients to better protect their homes and properties from wildfire. In his free time you can find him coaching his kids’ baseball teams or fishing on the Deschutes River.
